It's Opening Day! Yepp That's Right HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA'S BACK!

Quote:

Bagpipes and drums of the 48th Highlanders filled the arena with music as has been the case at every home opener since the opening of Maple Leaf Gardens on Nov. 12, 1931. The men in kilts exited playing The Maple Leaf Forever, which put the announced crowd of 19,496 in a good mood.

Vermette turned the smiles to frowns when he opened the scoring at 7:23. A burst of speed sent him past Tomas Kaberle and the fourth-year Senator took a wrist shot from the circle to the right of Raycroft that went into the far lower corner of the net.

Antropov tied it at 10:39 when his pass to the crease from the side boards deep in Ottawa's end struck Chris Phillips' skate and ricocheted past goaltender Martin Gerber.

Antropov scored again at 13:59. He was unchecked in front of Gerber when Sundin slid him the puck from behind the net. A flick of the Kazakh's wrists and the puck was between Gerber's legs.

Alfredsson made it 2-2 at 14:39 when his wrist shot from the top of the circle to the left of Raycroft found the far lower corner of the net.

Fourth-liner Kris Newbury fought veteran Senators defenceman Wade Redden late in the period.

The Leafs were outhitting and outshooting the Senators and, just as importantly, they were steering clear of the penalty box. Yet, to avoid falling behind again, they needed Raycroft to stop Chris Kelly on a breakaway in the fifth minute of the second period and to come up big during a two-man Ottawa advantage that lasted 65 seconds.

Stajan put Toronto up 3-2 at 15:44 of the second when he slapped a bullet past Gerber from the middle of Ottawa's zone.

Redden left the ice a minute later with blood trickling down his face from a forehead cut after a fight with Bates Battaglia.

The Senators picked up their play in the third period _ they'd outshoot the Leafs 12-4 _ but Raycroft was solid.

Just when it seemed as if the Leafs might be able to run out the clock, Heatley struck. Andrej Meszaros fed him a cross-ice pass and he buried his shot in the open side of the net at 14:24 to tie it 3-3.

Yeah to sum it up we started off to a bad start w/ 1-0 then Antrapov scores w/ Sundin getting the assist. Following that shortly he gets another one making it 2-1, then out of the blue 15 secs later the Sens score. The score ended up 3-3 and we lost in OT, what a shame..well i think its time to make a move one from the Leafs..I've started to grow a passion for another team...which means I might just join Nick's side (the Habs) - or - I'm still considering Ottawa some of my faves have become Jason Spezza, Ray Emery (maybe soon to be Gerber), and most of all Danny Heatley (he's a h4x0r) .

Toronto pretty much sucks, they didn't bring any key players during the draft, making suck as much as they did before. Now they do have *some* skill but I think this season will be a close call wheather they make it to the play-offs. I think I have confidence in the Canadiens because over and over again Nick has come through, they have defeated the Leafs especially when it was important. They even had a game today which they won, although it was OT also, it still is a win!

This years' cheer (s): Go! Habs Go! -or- Go! Sens Go! LOL

*Edit*: Here's some pictures of the game if your interested.
